When Moldavite is cut, it is considered a gemstone - the world's only extraterrestrial gemstone. Because of the natural nobby or grooved formation of moldavite, when it is carved into crystal skulls, they can have several natural deep grooves or indentations on the surface, so it is rare to have one that is perfectly smooth.
