Volcano Lava Skulls

Every time a volcanic eruption occurs, new rock is added to the surrounding area. Technically, Lava becomes the newest pieces of rock on the planet. 

Hot lava has temperatures of over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit (over 1000 degrees Celcius). In fact, the color of the lava gives you an indication on the heat: "Yellow indicates a temperature of about 1,000–1,200 degrees Celsius (1,832–2,192 degrees Fahrenheit). When volcanoes violently erupt, many gas bubbles form in the lava, so it crystallizes into rocks filled with holes where the gas used to be.
